What is the FACES Team?

The FACES Team serves children experiencing difficulties related to prenatal exposure to alcohol. Services include screening and multidisciplinary evaluations leading to diagnosis and recommendations for intervention.

What is FASD?

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders are a set of mental and/or physical disorders that can include mental retardation, brain dysfunction, physical abnormalities, learning disabilities and psychological disorders resulting from prenatal exposure to alcohol. The spectrum can include lower IQ, attention deficit disorder, learning disabilites, heart defects, cerebral palsy and brain dysfunction.

FASD Diagnosis

The FACES team uses a multi-disciplinary approach to FASD diagnosis.
Diagnoses involve:

  • Medical
  • Psychological
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech Language Pathology assessments
  • Review of medical & school records
  • Family Interviews

The team meets to make any appropriate diagnosis and to make recommendations for services.
