What happens during an assessment?
During an eligibility determination, ILP staff will gather information about your child’s strengths and needs. You may be asked to provide information about their child’s developmental and medical history. Standardized and non-standardized testing tools will be used to look at skills in all areas of development. The assessment team will explain to parents how they can assist in the assessment process. Following the assessment, findings and observations will be discussed with you. The assessment team will later score the tests and complete an assessment report. It will indicate whether or not your child is eligible for the program. Recommendations will be made for the next steps to pursue in supporting your child’s development.
